The system is designed to instantly remove any slack in the seat belt in the event of a frontal collision, thereby reducing the risk to the front occupants. Each front seat is equipped with a belt tensioner system connected directly to the seat belt buckle. The belt tensioner is controlled by the airbag control unit. When the belt tensioner system is activated, the fuel inside the tensioner cylinder ignites, causing the tensioner piston to move forward, thereby removing slack from the seat belt. Once the tensioner has been activated, it must be replaced. To prevent the tensioner from being activated while repair work is being carried out on the vehicle, it is necessary to disconnect the battery and disconnect the electrical connector from the seat belt and airbag control panel.

Warning! Before performing any work on the seat belt, disconnect the negative terminal from the battery and wait at least 2 minutes. Then remove the central console and disconnect the connector from the seat belt tensioner control unit.

Caution: Do not expose the tensioning mechanism to temperatures above 100°C.
