When checking the cooling system, you should visually inspect the radiator, water pump, thermostat housing, expansion tank and heater, and also make sure that the hoses on them are tightly planted and secured with clamps.
27. Check that the cooling system hoses are not hardened, brittle or cracked.
28. Make sure the radiator is not damaged and the radiator reservoir is not leaking.
29. Check thermostat function.
30. Make sure the fan (s) radiator fan is working fine.
If the water pump shaft seal is worn, the pump will leak. The condition of the pump cover seals should also be checked.
If the hoses shrink after the coolant cools down, then this is a sign of a malfunction of the low pressure valve on the cap of the expansion tank.
With the onset of the cold season, the concentration of the coolant should be checked and, if necessary, the content of antifreeze should be increased.
