Kick-down
The forced anticipatory downshift device, or KICK-DOWN, ensures maximum acceleration of the vehicle under given driving conditions. As soon as the pressure on the accelerator pedal exceeds a certain threshold value, depending on the engine speed and driving speed, a shift to one of the lower gears occurs. The return shift to the next higher gear will only follow when the maximum permissible crankshaft speed is reached.
Caution! Keep in mind that on slippery roads, the drive wheels may begin to slip when forced to downshift.
