Vacuum pump (vehicles with diesel engine) (Peugeot 406)

Removal

1. To improve access to the vacuum pump, remove the air supply tube to the air cleaner.

2. Loosen the clamp and disconnect the vacuum hose from the pump.

3. Remove the bolts/nuts securing the pump to the left front side of the cylinder head.

4. Remove the pump from the engine. On 1.9 liter engines, the pump has 2 sealing rings, on 2.1 liter engines - 1 ring. The sealing rings must be replaced.

Installation

1. Install the new O-ring (arrows) into the pump recess.

2. Align the lug on the pump shaft with the groove in the camshaft and install the pump on the cylinder head. Do not displace the sealing ring (the protrusion and groove are indicated by arrows).



3. Secure the pump with bolts/nuts.

4. Connect the vacuum hose to the pump and secure it with a clamp.
