The performance of the brake system vacuum pump can be checked using a vacuum gauge.
1. Disconnect the vacuum line from the pump and connect a vacuum gauge in its place.
2. Start the engine at idle speed.
3. Measure the vacuum created by the pump. After 1 minute of engine operation, the vacuum should be about 500 mm Hg. If the vacuum created by the pump does not correspond to the required data, replace the pump completely, since spare parts for the pump are not supplied.
