Removal
1. Remove the brake disc and mark the location of all handbrake components.
2. Using a special key, compress the upper brake shoe retaining spring, turn it 90° and remove it from the brake shield.
3. Disconnect the upper brake shoe return spring.
4. Loosen and remove the regulator.
5. Release the upper shoe from the release mechanism and remove the lower brake shoe return spring.
6. Remove the lower brake shoe retaining spring and remove the handbrake shoe.
7. Disconnect (arrow) the handbrake cable from the brake shoe release mechanism.
8. Check the condition and wear of the handbrake brake pads. The minimum thickness of the brake pad lining is 1 mm. When installing the pads, new return springs must be used.
Installation
1. Clean the rear brake components. Apply high melting point lubricant to the contact areas of the pads with the brake shield.
2. Check that the brake shoe release mechanism is assembled correctly, then connect it to the end of the handbrake cable.
3. Install the lower handbrake shoe and secure it with the retaining spring.
4. Install the upper shoe and lower return spring. Check that the upper brake shoe is installed correctly and secure it with the retaining spring.
5. Install the adjuster between the brake shoes. Install the upper return spring catch on the lower shoe, then on the upper shoe.
6. Center the position of the brake pads.
7. Install the brake disc.
