Models with rear drum brakes
1. To check the handbrake adjustment, release it completely, press the brake pedal several times to set the normal working clearance between the brake shoes and the drum, tighten the handbrake several times to properly set the automatic handbrake adjustment mechanism.
2. To check the correct adjustment of the handbrake, tighten the handbrake lever until it stops and count the number of clicks, which should be 10-11. If the number of clicks differs from the specified, it is necessary to adjust as follows.
3. Raise the rear of the vehicle and support it on stands.
4. To access the handbrake adjuster, remove the nuts and bolts and remove the heat shield.

5. Release the handbrake lever completely and loosen the lock nut.

6. Turn the adjuster on the left front side of the mechanism to set the gap (indicated by the arrow) 0.5-1 mm between the front and right rear cable. Tighten the lock nut.
7. Check the handbrake adjustment by counting the number of clicks of the lever.
8. Install the heat shield and lower the vehicle.
Models with rear disc brakes
1. To check the handbrake adjustment, tighten the handbrake lever fully.
2. Count the number of clicks on the ratchet mechanism. When the handbrake is adjusted correctly, it will be fully tightened at the 6th or 7th click.
Adjusting brake pads

1. Raise the rear of the car and support it on stands. Remove both rear wheels. Using pliers, remove the plug from the front of the brake disc, allowing access to the brake adjuster.
2. Turn the brake disc to align the adjustment hole with the handbrake shoe adjuster.

3. Make sure the handbrake is fully released, then insert a screwdriver through the adjustment hole and fully release the handbrake shoes by turning the adjustment ring.

4. After the disc is fully braked by the brake pads, turn the adjusting ring back by 5-6 teeth, as a result of which the brake disc should rotate freely.
5. Install the plug covering the adjustment hole in the brake disc.
6. Repeat the steps to adjust the brake pad clearance on the second wheel.
7. Install the wheels and adjust the handbrake cable.
