If the engine does not start and the starter does not work (Peugeot 406)

1. If this is an automatic transmission model, make sure the gear shift lever is in "P" or "N".

2. Open the hood and make sure the battery terminals are clean and live.

3. Turn on the headlights and try to start the engine. If the headlights dim when you try to start the engine, the battery is probably dead. In this case, try to jump start the engine.
