The presence of puddles on the garage floor or engine, or obvious moisture under the hood or on the underside of the vehicle, suggests a leak that needs to be found and repaired immediately. It can sometimes be difficult to locate a leak, especially if the engine compartment is heavily soiled. An oil or fluid leak can also be blown back under the vehicle, giving a false impression of where the leak is.

Engine oil can seep through the oil filter bases.
Oil can seep through the seals at the inner ends of the drive shafts.
Leaking antifreeze often leaves a clear coating.
Leaks in the wheels can only be from brake fluid.
Power steering fluid may be leaking from the pipe connectors on the control shelf.
