Checking the tightness of connections (Peugeot 406)

The presence of puddles on the garage floor or engine, or obvious moisture under the hood or under the car, suggests a leak that needs to be found and repaired immediately. Sometimes it can be difficult to locate the leak, especially if the engine bay is very dirty. An oil or fluid leak can also be blown backwards by air flow under the car, giving a false impression of where the leak is.



Engine oil may leak from the drain plug.



Engine oil may leak through the oil filter base.



Oil can leak past the seals on the inner ends of the drive shafts.





Antifreeze leaks often leave a clear residue.



Leaks in the wheels can only be from brake fluid.
