1. Jack up the front of the car and place it on jack stands.

2. Remove the corresponding front wheel.

3. Vehicles with ABS: Release the ABS sensor wire (wheel speed sensor) from the holder on the shock absorber strut.

4. Unscrew nut 1 of the ball joint pin securing the wishbone to the steering knuckle, as well as nut 2, which secures the anti-roll bar to the stabilizer strut (see illustration).

5 Using a suitable puller "a", press out the ball joint pin of the transverse arm from the steering knuckle (see illustration 2.4), and then unscrew bolt 1, which secures the lower part of the shock absorber strut to the steering knuckle (see illustration 2.5).

A - a protrusion that ensures the correct mounting position of the shock absorber strut
B - slot (lock) of the hole in which the lower part of the shock absorber strut is attached
C - locking protrusions preventing the shock absorber from shifting downwards


Caution: Secure the drive shaft to prevent it from falling after removing the shock absorber.




6. Cars with a suspension control unit. Remove the protective cover 3 from the mudguard, press the clamps and remove the filter cover 4, disconnect the plug 5 and remove the filter 6 (see illustration).

7. Unscrew the three bolts 7 that secure the upper support of the shock absorber strut to the mudguard (see illustration 2.6).

8. Insert the socket wrench or special tool "a" into the slot of the hole on the steering knuckle and turn it in the direction of the arrow (see illustration), to increase the width of the slot, which will allow the lower part of the shock absorber to be removed by turning the steering knuckle a quarter turn.

Important! Before removing the shock absorber strut, it is recommended to compress its spring using suitable clamping handles, such as FACOM or MG INTERNATIONAL, which are used in specialized PEUGEOT workshops.




9. Compress the shock absorber spring using special FACOM or MG INTERNATIONAL clamping handles (see illustration, parts "a" and "b").

Caution! To remove the shock absorber strut using the MG INTERNATIONAL clamping handle, install the handle as shown in Illustration 2.9, and then tighten nuts 8 and 9, thereby compressing the strut spring.

10. Remove the shock absorber strut by pushing it upwards, then tilting it and pulling it out through the wheel arch (see arrows in the illustration).

Attention! The shock absorber strut is removed together with the stabilizer bar attached to it.


The shock absorber strut is installed in the reverse order of removal.
