A fairly large number of mechanisms are driven by vacuum-operated valves. Due to the fact that there is practically no vacuum in the intake manifold of a diesel engine, vehicles with a diesel engine are equipped with a vacuum pump. In addition to the vacuum pump, DW12TED4 engines are equipped with a vacuum receiver(see illustrations 6.0 and 6.0a).
