Check clutch control unit adjustment by measuring clutch pedal travel. If a new clutch cable is installed, depress the clutch pedal at least 20 times.
1. Depress the clutch pedal to the floor and measure the distance from the center of the clutch pedal pad to the floor. Release the pedal, and again measure the distance from the pedal to the floor.
2. Subtract the first measurement from the second, resulting in a clutch pedal travel of 145 mm, otherwise adjustment is necessary.
3. The clutch cable is adjusted by the adjuster nut located on the side of the gearbox. On some models, access to the locknut is limited and, if required, the air supply pipe to the engine or air cleaner housing must be removed.
4. If the clutch pedal travel is not 145 mm, then the lock nut must be loosened (1) and with adjusting nut (2) set the appropriate value. After adjustment, re-measure the clutch pedal travel. Repeat this procedure until the clutch pedal travel reaches the desired value.
5. Tighten the clutch cable locknut and install the previously removed elements.
6. Since mid-1994, the clutch pedal travel has been adjusted automatically.
