Removing
1. Loosen the drive belt tension and remove the belt from the pump pulley. The power steering pump is located above or below the alternator, depending on the type of engine. If the pump is located under the generator, access to it is most convenient from below the car.
2. Using G-clamps, pinch the supply and return hoses near the supply tank.
3. Loosen the nut and remove the hose clamp at the rear of the pump.
4. Loosen the clamp and remove the supply hose from the pump. Unscrew the nut and disconnect the inlet pipe.
5. Unscrew the pump mounting bolts and remove it from the bracket.
6. If the pump is defective, it must be replaced as an assembly.
Installation
1. Mount the pump on the bracket and secure with screws.
2. Connect the inlet pipe to the pump and screw it on with the union nut. Install the inlet pipe to the pump and secure with a clamp. Remove clamps from hoses.
3. Install the hose bracket to the rear of the pump.
4. Install the drive belt on the pump pulley and adjust the tension.
5. Remove air from the system.
