Before repairing the engine, it is necessary to remove the following:
- generator;
- thermostat and coolant outlet pipe (gasoline engines);
- thermostat and fuel filter housing (diesel engines);
- oil level gauge tube;
- electrical switches and sensors;
- intake and exhaust manifolds;
- oil filter;
- engine support brackets;
- flywheel.
If it is necessary to repair only the cylinder block, crankshaft, pistons and connecting rods, then it is necessary to remove the cylinder head, oil pan, oil pump and toothed belt.
If a complete overhaul is required, the following must be removed from the engine:
- intake and exhaust manifolds;
- toothed belt, pulleys and tensioner mechanism;
- cylinder head;
- flywheel;
- oil pan;
- oil pump;
- pistons with connecting rods;
- crankshaft.
