1. Place the vehicle on jack stands.
2. Check the strength of the clamps and mounting flanges.
3. Inspect the exhaust system. Make sure there are no holes, rusted parts, or abrasions.
4. Replace exhaust pipes that have significant dents.
5. Check the rubber mounting pads for porosity by stretching and twisting them. Replace the cushions if necessary.
6. Check the reliability of the heat reflective shields. If necessary, tighten the mounting bolts or replace the shields.
7. Check the connections and fastenings of the oxygen sensors.
