All vehicles described in this publication have a 12-volt electrical system. The negative battery terminal is connected to the vehicle's ground. The battery is located in the engine compartment.
To start the engine, a starter with forced engagement of the gear is used. The starter switch is an integral part of the ignition switch, which activates the traction relay installed on the starter. Depending on the type of vehicle, a starter of different manufacture may be installed on it.
The installed alternator may be from Motorola, Paris Rhone, or Valeo. The type and manufacturer of the installed alternator can be identified by its nameplate. This also applies to its power.
The generator is driven via a V-belt from the crankshaft. The electromechanical voltage regulator, located on the back cover, is used to regulate the battery charging current.
The charge indicator lamp on the instrument panel indicates that the electrical equipment is functioning normally in the part related to the battery charging circuit.
