Removal

1. Fold the front seats forward or slide them all the way forward.

2. Remove the screw securing the rear section of the console to the support brackets on each side (figure 29.2).

3. Remove two screws, one on each side of the parking brake lever (figure 29.3).

4. Pull the rear section of the console back to release the front mounting pins. Lift the rear of the console, slide it up over the parking brake lever, and remove the rear section from the vehicle (figure 29.4).

5. Turn the gear shift knob and remove it from the lever (figure 29.5).

6. Release the gear shift boot from the front of the console and pull it off the gear shift lever (figure 29.6).

7. Remove the two screws at the rear of the front console section and the center screw below the heater/ventilation controls (figure 29.7, a, b).

8. On each side, remove the screw and detach the side vent panel from the center console and fascia (figure 29.8).

9. Unhook the front section of the center console from the dashboard and lift the rear section away from the gear shift lever (figure 29.9). Disconnect the electrical connectors and remove the front console section from the vehicle.
