In the automotive industry, the process of modernization is continuous; it is not reflected in publications and occurs completely independently of the main changes to models. Since spare parts catalogs and lists are compiled using part numbers, proper identification numbers are absolutely essential for the correct selection of the required components.

When ordering spare parts, always provide as much information as possible. Please provide your vehicle model, year of manufacture, vehicle identification number (VIN) and engine number.

Vehicle identification number (chassis number) it is stamped on the body, along the upper edge of the right fender, and can be seen when the hood is open.

Chassis nameplate from the manufacturer (which also indicates the vehicle identification number) located on the right side of the engine compartment next to the suspension strut. Additional identification numbers with weight and paint coating codes are located on or near this plate.

The engine number is located on the front of the cylinder block and may be found in the following locations:
  • a) On petrol engines - on the left side of the cylinder block. The number is stamped either directly on the block or on a plate that is attached to the block with rivets.
  • b) On diesel engines, the engine number is stamped on the base of the cylinder block on a flat surface located to the right of the oil filter/oil cooler.

Note: The first part of the engine number indicates the engine code, for example, KFW.
