Intake manifold — removal and installation (Peugeot 405)

Removal

1. Remove the carburetor.

2. Disconnect the brake booster hose from the manifold.

3. Disconnect the ventilation system hose from the manifold.

4. Unscrew the bolt from the oil can pipe hanger.



5. Unscrew the manifold mounting nuts, then separate the manifold from the head and remove it from the engine compartment. Note that on XU engines the central part of the manifold is additionally secured with one nut (indicated by the arrow).

Installation

Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal, taking into account the following points:

• check that the mating surfaces of the manifold and head are clean and dry. Install a new manifold gasket on a thin layer of sealant;
• install the manifold and tighten the mounting nuts to the required torque;
• install carburetor;
• if necessary, add coolant to the cooling system.
