1. Remove the gearbox (see the relevant chapter).

2. Install special handles for removing/installing the torque converter. Select the handles depending on the type of torque converter fastening: if the torque converter is fastened with bolts, then install handles 0336-B, if with nuts, then handles 0336-B1 (see illustration).

3. Remove the thrust roller that was used to lock the torque converter when removing the gearbox.

4. Remove the torque converter using handles "a" (see illustration).

Caution: Proceed with caution as the torque converter is filled with oil.




5. Remove the torque converter oil seal using puller "b", catalog number 0336-P (see illustration).
