Transmission oil — replacement (Peugeot 605)

Automatic transmission with dipstick

16. Unscrew the plug 1 of the drain hole (see illustration) and drain the transmission oil into a suitable container. It is impossible to drain the oil from the torque converter completely, so approximately 3 liters of oil are drained.



17. Screw in the drain plug and tighten it to 45 Nm.

18. A special device can be used to fill the transmission oil (filling capacity), catalog number of which is 0340 (see illustration).



19. Connect the hose of the 0340 filling tank to the guide tube of the dipstick and gradually fill in 3 liters of fresh transmission oil.



20. Start the engine and check the transmission oil level.

Automatic transmission without dipstick

21. Unscrew plug 1 of the drain hole (see illustration 2.16) and drain the transmission oil into a suitable container. It is impossible to drain the oil from the torque converter completely, so approximately 3 liters of oil are drained.

22. Screw in the drain plug and tighten it to 45 Nm.

23. Jack up the car and place it on jack stands.

24. Move the air filter away from the work area.

Caution: Do not disconnect the transmission oil temperature sensor.

25. Remove the filler plug 2 with suitable pliers (see illustration).



26. Jack up the car.

27. Unscrew plug 3 of the inspection hole (see illustration 2.11).

28. Connect the 0340 transmission fluid filling tool to the filler hole and gradually pour in fresh oil until it starts to flow out of the inspection hole.

29. Start the engine, let it idle, depress the brake pedal, move the gearshift lever to each of the seven positions in turn and set the lever to the "P" position.

30. Add transmission oil until it starts to flow out of the inspection hole.



31. Screw in the inspection hole plug.

32. Turn off the engine. Check the transmission oil level.
