8. Check the pressure plate bearing surface for cracks, scorching and wear. Discs with an inward deflection of up to 0.5 mm can be reinstalled.
9. Check the condition of the flywheel for wear and mechanical damage. Make sure that there are no burn marks or ripples.
10. Treat the pressure plate and flywheel with fine-grained sandpaper.
11. Replace oily clutch discs. Also, if there are signs of oil leakage, replace the crankshaft oil seal.
12. Remove anti-corrosion grease before installing a new pressure plate only from its working surface. In other places, do not remove the lubricant in any case, otherwise the service life of the clutch is significantly reduced.
13. Clean off corrosion and apply a thin layer of molybdenum grease to the spline connection of the driven disk, as well as to the gear rim of the gearbox shaft. Then move the clutch disc on the input shaft until the hub on the shaft moves easily.
14. Center the position of the driven plate on the flywheel and pressure plate using a suitable punch or mandrel, such as a mandrel «A» 0216-C (see illustration). If the driven plate is not installed in the center of the pressure plate, then later it will not be possible to start and install the transmission input shaft. The old transmission input shaft can be used as an alignment aid.
3.14 Center the position of the driven plate on the flywheel and pressure plate using a suitable punch or straightener, such as a mandrel «A» 0216-s
15. Tighten the driven disk mounting bolts with a force of 20 Nm (15 Nm - for manual transmission MG5T).
16. Apply a light coat of Molykote BR2 Plus graphite grease to the release bearing sleeve and clutch shaft splines.
Attention! The clutch release bearing is factory lubricated with long life grease. For this reason, it is impossible to remove the old lubricant and apply a new one.
17. Lubricate the head and both sides of the clutch fork with multipurpose grease.
18. Make sure that the retaining ring 2 of the release bearing is properly located in the corresponding groove and is closed with a plastic ring 3 (see illustration).
3.18 Make sure that the retaining ring 2 of the release bearing is properly located in the corresponding groove and closed with the plastic ring 3
19. Apply a small amount of Rustilo DWX33 grease to the transmission input shaft splines.
20. Install the clutch release bearing on guide 4 of the gearbox input shaft (see illustration).
3.20 Install the clutch release bearing on guide 4 of the gearbox input shaft
Attention! It is recommended to change the release bearing to a new one at the same time as replacing the pressure and driven disks.
21. Install the clutch release fork.
22. Install the gearbox (see relevant chapter).
