Electronic airbag control device
The electronic airbag control unit is integral with the steering wheel and can only be removed with the steering wheel.
Airbag
The airbag is an integral part of the steering wheel.
Removal
1. Before performing any work on the security system, remove the negative battery terminal and wait at least 10 minutes.

2. Unscrew two screws (indicated by arrows) airbag mounts located at the rear of the steering wheel. To access the screws, turn the steering wheel.
3. Disconnect the electrical connector from the airbag.
Installation
1. Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal. The following points must be taken into account.
2. Do not strike or impact the airbag while reinstalling it.
3. Tighten the airbag mounting screws to the specified torque.
4. Finally, activate the airbag system by following these steps:.
5. Close the car doors, making sure there are no people in the car.
6. Turn on the ignition.
7. Connect the ground wire to the battery.
8. Turn off the ignition.
9. Turn the ignition back on and check that the airbag hazard warning light on the steering wheel lights for three seconds and then goes out.
10. Turn on the ignition.
Airbag swivel connector
1 – rotary connector, 2 – electrical connector, 3 – rotary connector mounting brackets
Removal
1. Remove the airbag.
2. Remove the steering wheel.
3. Unscrew the mounting screws and remove the lower steering column cover.
4. Remove the upper steering column cover.
5. Disconnect the electrical connector from the swivel connector.
6. Using a screwdriver, release the three mounting brackets and remove the swivel connector.
Installation
1. Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal. The following points must be taken into account.
2. Before reinstalling the steering column covers and airbag, check that the wiring harness is routed correctly and that the wiring does not get caught on anything by moving the steering wheel.
3. Install the steering wheel.
4. Install the airbag, but do not activate the airbag at this stage.
5. Finally, move the steering column to the raised position, then check that the clearance between the rear of the steering wheel and the steering column covers is 8.0 mm. If the clearance is different from the required one, proceed as follows.
6. Remove the carpet around the pedals to access the steering column clamp bolt.
7. Loosen the tie rod bolt and move the steering shaft until the clearance between the rear of the steering wheel and the steering column covers is 8.0 mm.
8. Tighten the tie bolt and replace the carpet.
9. Activate the airbag.
