Disconnecting the electrical connector from the airbag control unit

On vehicles equipped with a driver's side airbag, there is the word "AIRBAG" on the center of the steering wheel. If there is a front passenger side airbag, there is the word "AIRBAG" on the top of the instrument panel. The safety system includes an airbag with gas generators, a control unit with a crash sensor, and hazard warning lights in the instrument panel. Each time the ignition is turned on, the safety system performs self-diagnosis. It is carried out within 6 seconds. During this time, the hazard warning light of the safety system on the instrument cluster lights up.
Before performing any work on the security system, disconnect the negative terminal from the battery and wait at least 2 minutes. Remove the center console and disconnect the main electrical connector from the security system control unit. After completing the work, connect the electrical connector to the security system unit and install the center console. Make sure that no one is in the car, connect the battery and turn on the ignition through the open driver's door from outside the car.
Caution: The airbag must not be exposed to temperatures above 100°C.
Caution: Do not allow solvents or cleaning agents to come into contact with the airbag.
Caution! Disconnect the control unit wire contact from the airbag when performing electric welding work on the vehicle.
