- Warm up the engine to a temperature of 95–105°C, i.e., until the temperature gauge needle is in the "hot" sector of the scale.
- Unscrew the plug of the hole under the oil temperature switch and screw in the pressure gauge.
- Increase engine speed to 1000 rpm and read the pressure gauge. The pressure gauge should show a pressure of 2.5 bar.
- Increase engine speed to 3500 rpm and check if the oil pressure has increased to 4.5 - 5.0 bar (diesel engine) or 4.2 - 5.0 bar (turbodiesel engine).
- The above values apply to a new engine. If the engine has significant mileage, the oil pressure at idle may be lower.
- Disconnect the pressure gauge and screw in the oil temperature switch with the copper gasket. Tighten the switch to a torque of 35 Nm. Check and, if necessary, adjust the engine oil level.
Checking oil pressure (Peugeot J5)
To check the oil pressure on a running engine, if you have the appropriate adapter, you can screw a pressure gauge into the hole under the oil temperature switch. In this case, proceed as follows:
