Oil pump — removal and installation (Peugeot J5)

To access the oil pump, remove the toothed belt drive as per the instructions section 20.8. Unscrew the three toothed pulley mounting bolts from the front side of the engine and remove the pulley. From the rear of the cylinder block, unscrew the five bolts and unscrew the connecting pipe. Remove the pipe and pump with the gasket. A seal is inserted into the flange under the pipe. It must be shaded. Installation is carried out in reverse order. Insert into the pump flange as shown figure 357 in place of the omentum. The installation of the oil pump is shown on figure 326.

After installing the front cover, press the new seal into the pump hole without damaging the seal.

Install the pump toothed pulley and secure it with bolts. Tighten the bolts evenly to 21 Nm.

Finally, install the timing belt according to the instructions section 20.8.1. If the oil pump is removed due to low oil pressure, it is best to install a new pump, as the pump housing and gears are most likely worn out.

If the oil has not been drained, check the engine oil level.
