Oil pump repair (Peugeot J5)

If necessary, the pump can be disassembled into the parts shown in Figure 359:

• Loosen the bolts and separate both halves of the oil pump housing.
• Remove the retaining ring from the hole under the safety valve and shake out the parts shown in the figure from the hole.
• Check the pump rotor carefully. The gear can be removed from the shaft inside the pump housing, however, if it is heavily worn, it is recommended to replace the entire pump.
• Check the safety valve piston and piston spring for wear or damage.
• The oil pump is assembled in reverse order. Generously lubricate the inside of the pump with engine oil. Both seals must be replaced.
• Before assembly, coat both halves of the pump body with sealing compound.
