Caution! The rear suspension is attached to the body with Torx bolts. A long #50 Torx bit is required to remove the rear suspension.

Removal the rear suspension unit

Removal the rear suspension unit

Removal
1. Raise the vehicle and place it on stands.
2. Remove the rear section of the exhaust system up to the front pipe.
3. Drain the fuel from the tank.
4. Remove the filler pipe mounting collar. Separate the pipe from the tank.
5. Remove the lower casing (equipment of some versions) and a heat shield.
6. Disconnect the handbrake cable connector holder from the body.
7. Remove the handbrake rod from underneath the body.
8. Remove the handbrake cable.
9. Loosen, without unscrewing, the two bolts of the rear mount to the fuel tank.
10. In the version with drum brakes, disconnect the brake hose connection nipple at the top of each suspension arm, and in the version with disc brakes, on the left side. Seal off the corresponding connections of the brake system.
11. For disc brakes, disconnect the tubes from the limiter and close the holes.
12. Place a jack under the beam pipe.
13. Loosen the bolts securing the rear beam holders to the body and unscrew them.
14. Unscrew the front mount bolts.
15. Lower the jack slightly and move the entire rear suspension assembly back to remove the filler tube from the fuel tank.
16. Raise the body.
17. Remove the entire rear suspension assembly.
Installation
1. Place the rear suspension unit under the body, supporting the beam on a jack.
2. Lower the body and place the rear suspension unit in the appropriate place.
3. Tighten the bolts securing the front beam holders to the body (use a #50 Torx bit).
4. Tighten the bolts securing the rear beam holders to the body.
5. Connect the brake system connections.
6. Tighten the tank mounting bolts.
7. Install the handbrake cable.
8. Install the handbrake rod.
9. Install the handbrake cable connector holder on the body.
10. Install the exhaust heat shield.
11. Fit the filler pipe to the tank and secure it with a new mounting collar.
