Attention! On models since 1994, the indicated interval for this procedure is 60,000 km.
TU models
1. Remove clips and disconnect vacuum hose and crankcase breather hose (indicated by arrows) in front of the air filter.
2. The air filter cover is located on the left side of the engine compartment (drawing on the left). Remove clips from air filter cover (drawing on the right).
3. Remove the tube from the air filter housing.
4. Remove air filter cover.
5. Remove the air filter element from the housing.
6. Install a new element in the casing.
7. Install the air filter cover, fix with brackets and connect the previously removed hoses.
XU Models (except XU10J4) with air filter mounted on the side
1. Remove the air duct from the filter housing.
2. Remove brackets and air filter cover.
3. Remove the air filter element from the housing.
4. Install a new element in the casing.
5. Install the air filter cover.
XU Models (except XU10J4) with air filter mounted on top
1. Remove air duct clamp (fasteners are indicated by arrows).
2. Loosen the retaining bracket and disconnect the tube from the inlet on the back of the cylinder head.
3. Unscrew the two screws located on the front side of the cylinder head cover, remove the cover and remove the filter.
4. Remove filter cover.
5. Remove filter element.
6. Install new filter element, retaining bracket, cover and connect hose.
XU10J4 16 valve models
1. Disconnect the air duct and remove the cover from the air filter.
2. Remove the air filter element.
3. Install a new element.
4. Install cover and air duct.
Diesel engines
The air filter should be changed every 45,000 km or every 30,000 km if the vehicle is driven on very dusty roads or in areas with high air pollution.
Unfasten the cover and then remove the filter.
