2. Using a screwdriver as a lever, remove the ball joint of the tie rod from the gear selector shaft.

3. Using a screwdriver as a lever, remove the gear selector shaft seal from the housing (drawing on the left), and move it from the end of the shaft (drawing on the right).
4. Check the condition of the surface of the gear selector shaft that mates with the sealing ring and, if there are any scratches or burrs, polish this surface or replace the gear selector shaft.
5. Lubricate the working edges of the new sealing ring and, sliding it onto the gear selector shaft, install the sealing ring into place in the gearbox.
6. Connect the rod to the gear selector shaft. Install the left front wheel and lower the car.
