- turn off the ignition and disconnect the ground wire from the battery;
- remove the air filter housing;

- remove the locking rod 6 (figure 5.59), gear selector lever;
- use a screwdriver blade to remove the stop 1 from the cable sheath;
- remove the 4th gear selection cable from the gearbox and move it to the side;
- unscrew bolts 5;
- remove the multifunction switch;

- special device 0338-N1 1 (see Figure 5.60) clean off any stuck foreign objects and cut off the rubber part of the gear selector lever axle sealing ring. During the cutting process, remove the resulting chips. Continue cutting the sealing ring until the tool rests against the gearbox housing;
- using puller 0338-N₂, remove the gear selector lever shaft sealing ring.
To install the gear selector lever shaft sealing ring:
- clean the installation area of the sealing rings;
- lubricate the sealing lip and outer surface of the new sealing ring with oil before installing it in place;
- using the 0338-K tool, install the sealing ring into place;
- further installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal, taking into account the following;
- check the position of the multifunction switch.
