- turn off the ignition and disconnect the ground wire from the battery;
- remove the air filter housing;

- using a ball joint remover, remove the ball joint 1 (see Figure 5.52) cable;
- use a screwdriver blade to remove the stop 3 from the cable sheath;
- remove the handle from the selector lever;
- remove the center console;

- disconnect electrical connectors 1 and 2 from the selector lever mechanism (figure 5.58);
- on the left side of the selector lever mechanism, disconnect and remove the relay;
- remove the screws securing the selector lever mechanism;
- lift the car;
- remove the front exhaust system suspension cushion;
- unscrew the heat shield mounting screws and slide it back as far as possible;
- remove the gear selector mechanism.
Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal, taking into account the following:
- when installing the ball tip 1 (see Figure 5.52) insert a crowbar under the gear selector lever;
- adjust the gear selection mechanism if necessary;
- connect the ground wire to the battery.
