Removal
1. Disconnect the negative terminal from the battery.
2. Lock the rear wheels, lift the front of the car and secure it on stands.
3. Drain the engine oil.
4. If present, remove the connector from the oil temperature sensor, which is screwed into the oil pan.
5. Remove the auxiliary drive belt.
6. On models with air conditioning, unscrew the bolt securing the compressor to the pan and secure the compressor to the body using soft wire.

7. Gradually loosen and unscrew the pan mounting bolts. Since the pan mounting bolts are of different lengths, it is necessary to arrange them so that they fall into place when installed.
8. Separate the oil pan from the cylinder block using palm strikes. If there is a gasket, remove it. When installing the pan, use only a new gasket. With the pan removed, check the oil pump and oil receiver screen.
9. On some engine models, a plate is installed between the oil pan and the cylinder block. If it is necessary to remove the plate, unscrew the two mounting bolts, which are located in diagonally opposite corners of the plate.
Installation
1. Thoroughly clean any gasket residue from the mating surfaces of the oil pan and cylinder block.
2. If there is a plate between the sump and the cylinder block, clean off any remaining gasket and coat the top of the plate with sealant. Install the plate on the cylinder block and tighten with the mounting bolts.
3. On models where the oil pan is mounted directly to the cylinder block, clean the mating surfaces and apply a thin layer of sealant.
4. On models where the pan is installed with a gasket, make sure that traces of the old gasket have been removed and the mating surfaces are dry and clean. Install a new gasket on the pan.
5. Place the pan on the engine block and tighten the bolts evenly and consistently.
6. On models with air conditioning, bolt the compressor to the pan.
7. Install the auxiliary drive belt and pressure regulator.
8. Connect the electrical connector to the oil temperature sensor.
9. Lower the car, fill the engine with oil and connect the negative terminal to the battery.
