Table of contents: Examination 🠇 Replacement 🠇
Examination
1. To improve access to the powertrain suspension, raise the front of the vehicle and secure it on stands.
2. Check the condition of the engine rubber components for cracks, aging and delamination.
3. Check the reliability of the engine mounts.
4. By moving the engine from side to side, check the play in the engine mounts. Play should be insignificant even with new suspension components.
Replacement
Right suspension
1.6 liter engine models
1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal. Move the hoses and wiring so that they do not interfere with the removal of the right suspension.
2. Place a jack under the engine and lift the engine using a wooden block until the entire weight of the engine is supported by the jack.
3. Unscrew the three nuts securing the right suspension to the engine and one nut securing it to the rubber suspension element. Unscrew the bolt securing the upper limiter of the right suspension installation and four bolts securing the suspension to the body.
4. Remove the rubber cushion from the suspension strut, unscrew the suspension strut and remove it.
5. Check all suspension components for signs of wear and replace if necessary.
6. Install the suspension strut on the body and screw it with bolts, tightening them to the required torque. Position the suspension to the cylinder head and secure it with bolts.
7. Install the travel limiter and secure it with bolts.
8. Install the rubber cushion onto the suspension mounting post.
9. Tighten the suspension mounting nuts.
10. Remove the jack from under the engine and reconnect the battery terminal.
