Examination
1. To improve access to the suspension of the power unit, raise the front of the car and fix it on stands.
2. Check the condition of the rubber elements of the engine for cracks, aging and delamination.
3. Check the reliability of the engine mounts.
4. Moving the engine from side to side, check the play in the engine mounts. The play should be negligible even with new suspension elements.
Replacement
Right suspension
1.6 liter engine models
1. Disconnect the negative terminal from the battery. Move the hoses and electrical wiring so that they do not interfere with the removal of the right suspension.
2. Place a jack under the engine and raise the engine over a block of wood until the entire weight of the engine is supported by the jack.
3. Unscrew the three nuts securing the right suspension to the engine and one nut to the rubber suspension element. Unscrew the bolt securing the upper limiter of the right suspension installation and the four bolts securing the suspension to the body.
4. Remove the rubber cushion from the suspension strut, unscrew the suspension strut and remove it.
5. Check all suspension components for signs of wear and replace if necessary.
6. Install the suspension strut on the body and screw on the bolts, tightening them to the required torque. Position the hanger to the cylinder head and secure it with bolts.
7. Install the travel stop and secure it with bolts.
8. Install the rubber pad on the suspension mount.
9. Tighten the suspension mounting nuts.
10. Remove the jack from under the engine and connect the battery terminal.
Engine models 1.8 and 2.0 liters
11. Disconnect the negative terminal from the battery. Move the hoses and electrical wiring so that they do not interfere with the removal of the right suspension.
12. Place a jack under the engine and raise the engine over a block of wood until the entire weight of the engine is supported by the jack.
13. Unscrew the two nuts and two bolts securing the right suspension to the engine. Unscrew the nut securing the suspension to the rubber element.
14. Remove the top travel stop bolt and the four suspension-to-body bolts.
15. Remove the rubber cushion from the installation rack, unscrew the rack from the body and remove from the car.
16. Check all suspension components for signs of wear and replace if necessary.
17. Install the suspension strut to the vehicle and tighten the mounting bolts. Position the hanger on the front of the cylinder head and tighten with bolts.
18. Install the travel stop and secure it with bolts.
19. Install the rubber pad on the suspension mount.
20. Tighten the suspension mounting nuts. Remove the jack from under the engine and connect the battery terminal.
Left suspension
1. Remove the air filter.
2. Place a jack under the engine and raise the engine over a block of wood until the entire weight of the engine is supported by the jack.
3. Unscrew the central nut securing the left front suspension. Unscrew the suspension mounting nuts and remove it from the engine compartment.
4. If necessary, unscrew the rack from the top of the gearbox.
5. Check all suspension components for signs of wear and replace if necessary.
6. Clean the threaded part of the machine and coat it with anti-twist compound. Install the rack to the top of the gearbox and bolt on.
7. Install the rubber cushion, tighten the bolts and the central nut. Remove the jack.
8. Install the air filter and connect the negative battery terminal.
