If the car will be completely on the goats, then you should first jack up the front and put it on the goats. Place chocks under the rear wheels (brick) or apply the parking brake.
When working under the vehicle, the latter, unless it is on a special lift, must rest on two or four stable stands/trestle jacks.
Attention! It is forbidden to work under an unreliably jacked vehicle. Supporting a raised vehicle with only a jack or lift does not provide sufficient safety. Life threatening!
1. Only jack up the vehicle when unloaded. The goats must stand on a level and firm surface.
2. Chock the wheels to prevent the wheels from rolling forward or backward if the wheels remain on the ground when the vehicle is raised. Don't rely on the handbrake. It needs to be loosened for some jobs.
When jacking the car from the side, the jack is installed at the points indicated on the body skirt (see illustration 2.0).
Standing goats when lifting the front end are installed in the same place as the jack when jacking the car from the side.
Attention! Never place the vehicle on jack stands by lifting it first on one side and then on the other. In order for the car to be fully jacked up, you must first jack it up from the front (or behind), and then behind (front). In this case, under the wheels, which will stand on the ground when jacking up, you need to put stops. Jacking up the vehicle should be done on a firm surface so that the ground does not sink under the jack.
2.0a Remove the bumper cover covering the tow hook
Towing
The towing hook is located on the bumper and is covered with a trim that must be removed (see illustration 2.0a).
The use of a tow bar is recommended. When it is used, the danger of a collision between the towing and towed vehicles is eliminated. The tow rope must have a sufficient degree of elasticity. Use only a rope made of synthetic fibers or with elastic intermediate links.
Towing cars with automatic transmission
Move the gear lever to the position «N».
- The maximum permissible towing speed is 50 km/h.
- The maximum allowable towing distance is 50 km.
When towing a vehicle with a faulty gearbox, at a higher speed than the permissible one, or for a distance of more than 50 kilometers, use the partial loading method or transport it on a tow truck (see illustration 2.0b). When the engine is not running, the pump that circulates the transmission oil does not function, and as a result, there is no lubrication of the gearbox parts.
