1. Disconnect the support bearing housing mounting bracket from the cylinder block. If the thrust bearing did not come out of the housing along with the shaft, then it must be pressed out of the housing together with the stuffing box.
2. Install a new bearing and a new oil seal into the housing, and then drive the drive shaft into the bearing as described above.
3. Lubricate the bearing with multipurpose grease.
4. Tighten the nuts with a torque of 10 Nm.
Illustration 8.0 shows a sectional view of the support bearing housing and shows the position of the heads of the support bearing bolts. The heads of these bolts must be displaced a quarter of a turn so that the drive shaft can be removed from the support bearing.
