A special wrench is used to remove the filter (see illustration 27.0).
27.0 Removing the oil filter with a special wrench. Filter without replaceable filter element
In the absence of such a key, you can use sanding paper by wrapping the filter housing with it so that the abrasive side is on the filter. The filter can then be unscrewed by holding it with both hands.
If such an attempt is unsuccessful, punch through the filter with a large screwdriver and, without removing the screwdriver from the hole, unscrew the filter using the screwdriver as a lever.
Lubricate the O-ring of the new oil filter with engine oil and secure the filter in place by screwing it in until it contacts the cylinder block. From this position, tighten the filter another quarter of a turn.
After that, loosen the filter, and then tighten it again until the sealing ring fits on the surface of the cylinder block. Then tighten the filter a half turn or 3/4 turn. This requirement must be met without fail in order to ensure the tightness of the oil filter seat. There are installation instructions on the filter itself. If the installation instructions do not match those given above, then the instructions on the filter should be followed.
