The purpose of the system tuning controls is given in paragraph 2 this chapter. Here we provide only some information on how the system works.
Outside air enters the vehicle through air intakes located on the outside. To ensure efficient operation of heating and ventilation systems, it is necessary to ensure that the air intake openings are not clogged with snow, leaves and debris. Air passes through the passenger compartment and luggage compartment and is exhausted through outlets at the rear of the vehicle.
Warning. Blocked outlets may cause the windows to fog up.
The air flow rate and direction can be adjusted using the heating and ventilation controls and the side and central vents (see the relevant points in paragraph 2).
Below is a description of the settings for some of the most common operating modes.
Quick warm-up of the interior
- Turn the temperature control to the red section.
- Set the blower fan speed controller to the desired speed.
- Set the air distribution regulator to one of the following positions:
- a) if the outside temperature is low or increased air flow is required to eliminate fogging, set the position to supply all air to the windshield;
- b) for normal heating - in the position of supplying air to the face;
- c) to warm the feet while maintaining cooling of the face - in the position of supplying air to the face and into the footwells;
- d) to warm the feet of the front passengers - in the position of supplying air to the foot wells;
- d) if the outside temperature is cool and causes the windows to fog up, set the air flow to the windshield and footwells.
Eliminates fogging and/or icing of the windshield and front door windows
- Turn the temperature control to the red section.
- Set the blower fan speed controller to maximum speed.
- Set the air distribution control to deliver all air to the windshield.
- After removing fog, adjust the controls to keep the glass as clear as possible.
Note: If you have air conditioning, it is recommended to turn it on to speed up the removal of fog from the windows.
To clear fogging and/or ice from the rear window - Press the rear window defroster button (see paragraph 2).
- After removing fogging from the rear window, it is recommended to turn off its heating.
Ventilation
- Open the center and side air vents fully.
- Turn the temperature control to the blue sector.
- Set the blower fan speed control to the desired speed and to the outside air supply position.
- Set the air distribution control to the position that delivers air to your face. Rapid cooling (if there is air conditioning) — Turn the temperature control to the blue sector.
- Turn on the air conditioner.
- Turn on recirculation mode (if available).
- Set the blower fan speed controller to the desired speed.
- Set the air distribution control to the position that delivers air to your face.
To reduce cooling efficiency, move the recirculation switch to the outside air supply position, reduce the fan speed, and adjust the temperature control to a higher temperature.
