4x4 drive intermediate gear
1 – driven gear, 2 – driven gear hub, 3 – bearings, 4 – sealing rings, 5 – round sealing ring, 6 – plate
All 4x4 vehicles are equipped with a special BE 3 gearbox that allows the installation of a transfer case with a built-in differential.
Removal and installation
Removing the gearbox from underneath the vehicle requires first removing the transfer case (see subsection 8.1.19), the remaining steps are no different from the operations for removing the gearbox in front-wheel drive vehicles.
The remaining technical data, as well as maintenance and repair of the gearbox, are similar to the BE 1 gearbox.
