Auxiliary drive belt tensioner mechanism (models with air conditioning)
1. Bent 7.0mm square rod
2. Square hole on the front side of the eccentric tension pulley
3. Eccentric bolt for fastening the tension pulley
4. 8.0mm hole for installing automatic belt tensioner
Removal, installation and checking of the drive belt tension is carried out in the same way as for cars with gasoline engines, with the exception of cars with air conditioning.
Removal, installation and adjusting the tension of the auxiliary drive belt (models with air conditioning)
Removal
1. Disconnect the negative terminal from the battery.
2. Apply the handbrake and raise the front of the car. Remove the right front wheel.
3. Remove the screws, detach the brackets and remove the protective arch from under the right front fender to gain access to the crankshaft pulley bolt. Remove the front mudguard if necessary.
4. Loosen the tension pulley eccentric mounting bolt (see figure Auxiliary drive belt tensioning mechanism (models with air conditioning)).
5. Insert the bent 7.0mm square rod into the square hole of the tensioner eccentric.
6. Using the rod, rotate the eccentric tensioner until the holes in the tensioner pulley bracket and the hanger behind the bracket are aligned. Once the holes are aligned, install the appropriate rod into the holes (m8 bolt or 8mm diameter rod).
7. With the tensioner locked, turn the eccentric until the belt is completely loose. Remove the belt.
Installation and tensioning
8. Install the drive belt around the pulleys in the following order:
- air conditioning compressor;
- crankshaft;
- tensioner pulley;
- power steering pump;
- alternator;
- eccentric pulley of the tensioning mechanism.
9. Check that the belt is installed correctly on the pulleys.
10. Rotate the eccentric pulley of the tensioning mechanism toward the drive belt until the lock is released. Without changing the position of the eccentric pulley of the tensioning mechanism, tighten the fastening bolt.
11. Remove the bracket fixing bolt and turn the crankshaft four revolutions in the direction of its working rotation.
12. Check the alignment of the holes in the tensioner bracket and the unit's suspension by reinserting the bolt.
13. Connect the negative cable to the battery, install the wheel arch and mudguard. Install the wheel and lower the car.
