Removal



1.6 liter engine models



Upper casing



1. Remove the fuel supply hoses from the upper cowling clamps.

2. Unscrew the two mounting bolts located at the base of the casing and remove the casing from the engine compartment.

Central casing



3. Remove the two center shroud mounting bolts located at the bottom of the shroud, move the shroud upward to release it from the two mounting pins located at the base of the shroud, and remove it from the engine compartment.

Lower casing



4. Remove the crankshaft pulley.

5. Remove the center casing.

6. Unscrew the two bolts securing the lower casing and remove it.

Caution: On some models, it may be necessary to unscrew the drive belt tensioner assembly mounting bolt and remove it from the engine to allow removal of the timing belt cover.


1.8 and 2.0 liter engine models



Upper casing



1. Unscrew the upper and lower bolts securing the upper outer casing to the inner casing. Remove the upper casing upwards.

Lower casing



2. Remove the crankshaft pulley.

3. Remove the upper outer casing. Unscrew the three bolts securing the lower timing belt casing to the engine.

Caution: On some models, it may be necessary to unscrew the drive belt tensioner assembly mounting bolt and remove it from the engine to allow removal of the timing belt cover.


Upper inner casing



4. Remove the timing belt of the gas distribution mechanism drive.

5. Remove the pulleys from both camshafts.



6. Remove the six bolts securing the inner casing to the cylinder head and remove the inner casing from the engine.

Installation



Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
