The fuel system includes the fuel tank, fuel pump, fuel supply and return lines, and fuel filter. The fuel tank holds about 60 liters of fuel. The current fuel level is indicated to the driver by a pointer indicator on the instrument panel. The fuel tank of cars with a gasoline engine is ventilated by an exhaust ventilation system. Harmful gasoline vapors removed from the tank by the ventilation are captured by the adsorber and from there sent to the engine for subsequent combustion. The fuel pump is located in the tank together with the fuel gauge sensor. To perform any work related to the fuel pump or the fuel gauge sensor, it is necessary to dismantle the fuel tank.

The fuel pressure in the fuel rail is regulated by the fuel pressure reducing valve.

Attention! Disconnect the fuel lines in vehicles with a diesel engine 30 seconds after turning off the ignition. This time is necessary to equalize the pressure in the fuel system with the atmospheric pressure.

Driving style largely determines fuel consumption. Here are some tips on how to use the accelerator pedal correctly:
  • a) move off immediately after starting the engine, even in frosty weather;
  • b) turn off the engine when stopping or parking for more than 40 seconds;
  • c) drive in the highest possible gear;
  • d) Maintain a steady speed when driving long distances: avoid high speeds; assess the traffic situation to avoid unnecessary and unneeded braking;
  • d) do not carry unnecessary cargo; if the roof rack is not in use, remove it;
  • e) Maintain the prescribed tire pressure; do not operate the vehicle with low tire pressure.
