81. Lubricate the working surface of the drive shaft seals with universal grease and insert the seals into the mounting holes. To press in the seals, use a piece of pipe of the appropriate diameter. The seals are pressed flush with the surface of the gearbox housing. When pressing in the seals, act carefully so as not to damage them.
82. All self-locking nuts and their washers are subject to replacement. However, washers are usually replaced if damaged.
83. Lubricate the input shaft end splines, clutch release bearing sleeve and clutch release fork pins with graphite grease, such as Molykote BR2.
84. Make sure that the gearbox-to-engine mounting pins are in their proper positions.
85. Move the clutch release fork back and secure it in this position with a cord or wire so that the release bearing is pressed out when installing the gearbox.
86. Place the garage lift with the gearbox under the car. Attach a chain or cable to the eye on the gearbox and lift the gearbox enough to engage it with the engine. If you have a suitable lift or crane, you can do the same operation with it without securing the gearbox to the chain or cable.
87. Feed the gearbox toward the engine so that its input shaft fits into the hole in the driven clutch disc. If the shaft end does not fit into the hole in the clutch disc, have an assistant turn the accessory drive belt pulley one way or the other so that the splines on the shaft end and the driven clutch disc align. Once the splines match, the gearbox should be seated completely in place.
88. Screw in the upper gearbox-to-engine mounting bolts and tighten them to the required torque.
89. Raise the engine and gearbox to allow installation of the suspension brackets.
90. Screw in the lower gearbox mounting bolts to the engine and tighten them to the required torque.
91. Next, the gearbox is installed in the reverse order of removal, taking into account the following:
92. Cars with VEZ manual transmission. Tighten the flywheel mounting bolts 11 with a force of 50 Nm (see illustration).
