81. Lubricate the working surface of the driveshaft oil seals with multipurpose grease and insert the oil seals into the mounting holes. To press in the seals, use a piece of pipe of the appropriate diameter. The seals are pressed flush with the surface of the gearbox housing. When pressing the seals, be careful not to damage them.
82. All self-locking nuts, as well as their spacers, must be replaced. However, washers are usually replaced when damaged.
83. Lubricate the splines of the input shaft shank, the clutch release bearing sleeve and the clutch release fork pins with graphite grease such as Molykote BR2.
84. Make sure that the mounting pins of the gearbox to the engine are in their seats.
85. Feed the clutch release fork back and in this position secure it with a cord or wire so that the release bearing is pressed out when installing the gearbox.
86. Get the garage lift with the gearbox under the car. Attach a chain or cable to the eye on the gearbox and raise the gearbox just enough to engage the engine. If there is an appropriate lift or crane, then the same operation can be performed with it, without fixing the box to the chain or cable.
87. Feed the gearbox to the engine so that its input shaft fits into the hole on the clutch disc. If the shaft shank does not fit into the hole in the clutch disc, have an assistant turn the accessory drive belt pulley in one direction or another so that the splines of the shaft shank and the clutch disc are aligned. As soon as the slots match, the box should be fully seated.
88. Screw in the upper bolts of the gearbox to the engine, tighten them with the necessary force.
89. Raise the engine and transmission so that the suspension brackets can be installed.
90. Screw in the lower bolts of fastening of a transmission to the engine, tighten them with application of necessary effort.
91. Further, the installation of the gearbox is carried out in the reverse order of removal, taking into account the following:
92. Cars with manual transmission VEZ. Tighten the bolts 11 of the flywheel with a force of 50 Nm (see illustration).

94. Cars with manual transmission VEZ. Tighten the bolts 15 of the gearbox support bracket to 30 Nm and the central nut 16 to 80 Nm (see illustration 3.11).

96. Cars with manual transmission ML5T. Tighten bolts 11 fastening the steering mechanism to the subframe (see illustration 3.39) with a force of 90 Nm. Wheel hub nut tightening torque 325 Nm.
97. Cars with gasoline engines of the ZPJ series and manual transmission ME5T. Tighten the bolt 12 of the ignition distributor with a force of 45 Nm, and the adjusting bolt 13 of the throttle valve - with a force of 10 Nm (see illustration). Lubricate the ignition distributor mounting bolts with LOCTITE FRENETANCH sealant before screwing in.
