The gearbox is housed in an aluminum alloy housing and is attached to the engine. Gear shift mechanism (see illustrations 1.0e, 1.0g) it is operated by a lever installed in the floor of the car.

1.0zh Gear shift mechanism. Manual transmission MG5T
The main elements of a manual transmission are the primary and secondary shafts, differential and final drive. All forward gears are synchronized.
Attention! Cars with a serial number of the manual transmission, starting from 809389, are equipped with a gear shift mechanism with a lever not in a metal, but in a plastic case. In addition, the cable rods for selecting and shifting gears are not adjustable.
Torque from the engine crankshaft is transmitted to the primary (input) shaft of the gearbox through the clutch.
The gear is engaged by moving the synchronizer clutch. Synchronizers provide fast and smooth gear changes.
The movable rod of the gearbox causes the corresponding gear engagement fork to move the synchronizer clutch along the shaft, as a result of which the toothed ring of the desired gear engages with the hub of the synchronizer clutch.
Removing the gearbox is necessary when replacing it or during repair or overhaul.
Attention! We do not recommend repairing the gearbox yourself. Therefore, this section provides the procedure for removing and installing the gearbox and the gear shift mechanism only.
