Have the towing device installed at a Peugeot Dealership.
Your vehicle is designed to carry passengers and luggage, but it can also be used to tow a trailer.
When towing a trailer, the vehicle experiences increased loads, and the driver requires increased attention.
When climbing uphill, the air density decreases, which leads to a decrease in engine power.
It is necessary to reduce the weight of the towed trailer by 10% for every 1000 meters.
Cargo placement
Place the load inside the trailer so that the heaviest items are located as close to the axle as possible and so that the load on the towing device is close to the maximum permitted, but in no case exceed it.
Engine cooling
When towing a trailer, the temperature of the coolant in the engine increases. The engine cooling fan is driven by an electric motor, so its cooling capacity does not depend on the engine operating mode. Therefore, to reduce engine temperature, use higher gears and reduce vehicle speed.
The maximum trailer weight that can be towed on a steep hill depends on the steepness of the hill and the ambient temperature. In any case, carefully monitor the temperature of the coolant.
If the coolant temperature warning light comes on, stop and turn off the ignition as soon as driving conditions permit.
Check the air pressure in the tires of the car and trailer and, if necessary, bring it up to the recommended values.
When towing a trailer, the stopping distance increases.
Check the trailer's electrical lighting and alarm system.
When towing a trailer, take into account the increased susceptibility to wind due to the increased windage.
Installation of crossbars for carrying cargo on the roof
Pic. 1.59. The location of the threaded holes for fastening the crossbars for carrying cargo on the roof and the direction of the shift of the plugs
On sedan vehicles, use the threaded holes provided for mounting the roof rails when installing the roof rails. To gain access to them, it is necessary to move the cap covering them in the direction of the arrow (pic. 1.59).
When installing crossbars for carrying cargo on the roof of station wagons, pay special attention to their attachment points.
They are marked with special marks on each longitudinal beam.
For the transport of goods on the roof, use only equipment approved by Peugeot, following the manufacturer's recommendations for installation.
The maximum load weight that can be carried on the roof rack is 75 kg for sedan vehicles and 100 kg for station wagons.
