Modified lower frame
A – holes with a diameter of 6.0 mm, B – body stiffening ribs
From November 1988 new lower frame rear mounting bolts were used. From mid-1992 the lower frame rear mounting was changed. The rear bolts were increased in size from M12 to M14. Lower frames with M14 bolts can be identified by the presence of 6.0 mm diameter holes located behind the rear mountings.
Removal
1. Raise the front of the car and secure it on stands. Remove the front wheels.

2. Remove the lower suspension arms.
3. Remove the steering gear.
4. Remove the rear engine mount.

5. Where applicable, release the bracket (indicated by the arrow), securing the clutch cable to the lower frame.

6. If present, unscrew the screws securing the mudguards under the engine and the wheel arch liners to the lower frame (the mounting screw is indicated by the arrow).
7. Check that all wires and hoses that were attached to the lower frame have been removed from it.
8. Place a jack with a block under the lower frame to hold it during removal.

9. Unscrew the four bolts securing the lower frame, lower it down and remove it from under the car (the mounting bolt is indicated by the arrow).
Installation
Further installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
