Lubrication system

Removal
1. Remove the ground cable from the battery and drain the oil from the engine.
2. Apply the handbrake and raise the front of the car.
3. On models with air conditioning, where the compressor is installed on the side of the pan, remove the drive belt. Unscrew the compressor bolt and secure the compressor to the body. Do not unscrew the pipes from the compressor.
4. Disconnect the wire from the oil temperature sensor, which is screwed into the pan.
5. Unscrew the mounting bolts and remove the tray. The tray mounting bolts are of different lengths, so they must be positioned so that they fit into place when installed.
6. Check the condition of the oil pump and the oil intake mesh filter.
7. Some models with the 1905cc 16-valve engine have a large plate between the oil pan and the cylinder block, which is secured with two screws diagonally across the plate.

Installation
1. Clean all traces of gasket from the pan and cylinder block and wipe them dry.
2. Apply a thin layer of sealant to the gasket and install it on the tray.

3. Place the pan with the gasket on the engine and screw it on with bolts.
4. On models with an aluminum tray (without gasket), clean the surfaces of the pan and cylinder block and wipe them dry.
5. Apply a thin layer of sealant to the pan and install it on the engine.
6. Place the air conditioning compressor on the pallet.
7. Install the drive belt.
8. Install the wire to the oil temperature sensor.
9. Lower the vehicle and add engine oil to the engine.
