Cars with a gasoline engine
35. Remove the hose clamps from the fuel filter. The hoses are secured at the factory with clamps. When replacing the fuel filter, you can install more familiar tie-down clamps tightened with a screw.
36. Disconnect fuel hoses from the filter. The filter housing has arrows indicating the direction of fuel flow.
37. Remove the old fuel filter and install a new one. After installing the fuel filter, start the engine and make sure the fuel hoses are tight.
Attention! The fuel system is pressurized, which means that when removing the fuel pump, fuel filter, fuel injectors, fuel rail and pressure regulator, and when disconnecting the hoses, the pressure must be relieved to avoid fuel blowout.
Diesel vehicles
The fuel filter element is replaced according to mileage or maintenance intervals. In addition to the appropriate replacement of the filter cartridge, the fuel filter housing must be regularly drained of condensate.
38. Disconnect the wire terminal «masses» (-) from the battery.
39. Remove the air filter.
40. Place a container under the fuel filter to collect fuel.
41. Unscrew the plug 1 of the ventilation hole next to the fuel filter cover (see illustration).

42. Unscrew the plug 2 of the drain hole on the filter housing and drain the condensate into a substituted container (see illustration 5.41).
43. Unscrew bolts of fastening of a cover of the fuel filter and remove a cover.
44. Remove the filter element from the filter housing along with the o-ring.
45. Clean the fuel filter housing and install a new replacement filter element.
46. Close the filter housing with a cover and tighten the cover fastening bolts.
47. Screw in the drain plug at the bottom of the fuel filter housing.
48. Replace the air filter and connect the wire terminal «masses» (-) to the battery.
49. Remove air from the fuel system.
Attention. Air from the fuel system must be removed in cases where the system was opened.
Unscrew the condensate drain plug to remove air
50. Bleed the system by pushing the manual priming lever about 20 times until clean fuel comes out of the filter, free of air bubbles.
51. Screw in the drain plug, start the engine and leave it to idle until the engine has stabilized.
52. Stop the engine and then restart. Leave the engine idling and do not press the accelerator pedal to make sure that air has been completely bled from the fuel system.
Attention! If the filter was replaced in a workshop, then a tester can be connected to the diagnostic socket and the fault codes can be read.
