Attention! The procedure is given using the example of cars with a 2.5 l DK5ATE engine.
1. Remove the vacuum pump 1 and then its gasket 2 from the exhaust manifold (see illustration).
4.1 Remove the vacuum pump 1 and then its gasket 2 from the exhaust manifold
2. Remove the intake manifold 3 and its gasket (see illustration).
4.2 Remove the intake manifold 3 and its gasket
3. Disconnect pipe 4 and air duct 5 (see illustration 4.2).
4. Remove the water pump drive belt.
5. Remove belt pulley 6 using puller "a" 0132-AA (see illustration).
4.5 Remove belt pulley 6 using puller "a" 0132-AA
6. Remove the roller together with the bracket 7 of its fastening (see illustration 4.5).
7. Remove the timing belt from the drive shaft gears and the fuel injection pump, see the corresponding chapter.
8. Remove gear 8 from camshaft 9, then remove O-ring 10 and oil seal 11 (see illustration).
4.8 Remove gear 8 from camshaft 9, then remove O-ring 10 and oil seal 11
9. Remove gear 12 of the camshaft and hub 13, having first blocked the camshaft by installing thrust roller "a" 0178-A in the corresponding hole (see illustration).
4.9 Remove gear 12 of the camshaft and hub 13, having first blocked the camshaft by installing thrust roller "a" 0178-A in the corresponding hole
10. Unscrew bolts 14, then remove cylinder head cover 15 (see illustration 4.9)
11. Using a spiral motion, evenly loosen the camshaft bearing housing mounting bolts.
12. Remove the camshaft bearing housing (see arrows in the illustration).
4.12 Remove the camshaft bearing housing (see arrows)
13. Remove the stop 16 from the camshaft, as well as the key 17 (see illustration).
4.13 Remove the stop 16 and key 17 from the camshaft
14. Carefully tap the camshaft from the timing drive side and remove the oil seal 18 (see illustration 4.13).
15. Remove gear 8 of the camshaft position sensor, remove oil seal 19 and release the end of the camshaft from the hole in the cylinder head on the flywheel side (see illustration 4.13).
