Mirror assembly



Removal



1. On models with electric mirrors, disconnect the battery negative terminal (refer to "Disconnecting the battery").

2. Prise the mirror trim plate from the inner edge of the door. Where applicable, remove the screw securing the adjuster knob to the trim plate and withdraw the trim plate. Where applicable, pull the adjuster grommet from the door (see illustrations).

3. Remove the three mirror securing screws, then where applicable, disconnect the wiring plug and withdraw the mirror assembly from the door, complete with the adjuster mechanism and grommet (where applicable) (see illustrations).

Refitting



4. Refitting is a reversal of removal. Where applicable, ensure that the adjuster knob is securely fastened to the trim plate by the securing screw.

Mirror glass



Removal



5. Working at the bottom edge of the mirror glass, locate the ends of the spring clip which secures the glass (see illustration).

6. Using a suitable screwdriver, prise the ends of the clip apart to release the glass (see illustration).

7. Withdraw the glass and recover the spring clip if it is loose.

Refitting



8. Fit the spring clip to the rear of the mirror glass, ensuring that the clip is correctly located in the slots in the rear of the mirror glass,

9. Push the mirror glass into the mirror until the spring clip locks into position in the mirror adjuster groove.

Manual adjustment mechanism



Removal



10. Prise the mirror trim plate from the inner edge of the door. Remove the screw securing the adjuster knob to the trim plate and withdraw the trim plate.

11. Remove the mirror glass as described previously in this Section.

12. Working inside the mirror housing, remove the three adjuster mechanism securing screws.

13. Pull the mechanism from the mirror housing and feed the adjuster cables and grommet through the door.

Refitting



14. Refitting is a reversal of removal. Make sure that the adjuster cables are free to move and not twisted. Refit the mirror glass as described previously in this Section.



Electric mirrors - general



15. No spare parts are available for the electric adjustment mechanism and if faulty, the complete mirror assembly must be renewed. The mirror glass can be renewed as described previously in this Section. Removal and refitting of the switch is describ Chapter 12.
